The database and distributed systems research group is part of the Department of computer and information science (IDI), which is the principal computer science department at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. The technology part of NTNU was formerly known as the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH).
These web pages provide information about the people in our group, outline our present courses and present our current research activities. In addition, you can find information regarding some of our past research projects, as well as a fairly complete overview of the publications that has been produced during the years.

Svein Erik Bratsberg has been employed at NTNU since August 2001 as a professor in distributed systems.
His main research interests are within highly available and scalable distributed systems, with a special focus on databases and search engines. Currently addressed by looking on next generation search engines, where scalability and schema agnostic search are in focus. He is also working on database internals, with focus on main memory structures suitable for modern computers.
