Thursday 25th of November, members of the Data and Information Management Section (DIF) gathered at Bowling 1 to socialize at an arena outside of the university.

Wednesday 16th of June, the Data and Information Management (DIF) section visited Sverresborg Folk Museum.
The evening at Sverresborg was spent both learning about the Norwegian history at the museum, and dining together at Tavern.

George Tsatsaronis won the best paper and the best presentation award at the 11th International Conference on Intelligent Text Processing and Computational Linguistics (CICLing 2010).
The winning paper - An Experimental Study on Unsupervised Graph-based Word Sense Disambiguation - was co-authored by Iraklis Varlamis and Kjetil Nørvåg.
Thursday 7th of May 2009, the Data and Information Management Section visited Ringve Museum in Trondheim. A guided tour of the museums' history, followed by a dinner at the Tordenskjold Tavern set the framework for the social event.

Thursday 23rd of November 2007, Associate Professor Sanjay Madria from University of Missouri-Rolla (USA) visited out department. Madria held a guest lecture about Dynamic Data Replication Schemes for Mobile Ad-hoc Network Based on Aperiodic Updates.

Tuesday 4th of September 2007, professor Christian S. Jensen visited our department and held two interesting guest lectures: Streamspin: Enabling Mobile 2.0 and Concepts in the Indexing of Moving Objects.
Wednesday 20th of June 2007 the Database group and the Information Management group went bowling. We finished a nice evening at the Havfruen fish restaurant.

In 1989, the HypRa Company was founded to commercialise results from the hypercube research. Sadly, this company was not able to reach its ambitious goals. However, after several intermediate steps Clustra Systems was eventually established in 1997 to compete in the market for highly reliable database systems. Clustra Systems was aquired by Sun Microsystems in February 2002.
