Notes:
  1. "Non-S" means "non-Scandinavian-speaking at start of dr.study". This means that they cannot easily serve as TAs in our bachelor courses, or operate effectively towards many of our Norwegian contacts.
  2. I have added data for my own SE-group in the two rightmost columns. This group has supervised 38 of IDI's 161 dr.candidates since 1990, 6 of the 22 female candidates, and 6 of the 31 non-S candidates (19% - raw data not shown in the tables).
  3. Ca. 30 of the 38 dr.candidates from the SE-group (80%) have been externally financed for their dr.study.
  4. NB: The 18 dr.candidates from the first 20-year period (1970-89) are tentatively classified according to IDI's thematic groups.

    2. Dept. Telematics, NTNU: ?? registered dr.students in 2004 and 48 graduated dr.candidates in 1961-2003.

Various lists of graduated dr.candinates are compiled, revised and disseminated by our own IDI department (as the one you now read), and by our IME faculty and embedding NTNU university:

-- An example: FRIDA is a government-initiated, virtual, national archive across all academic institutions in Norway. The goal is to document and make available all scientific and artistic productions for present and future use. Projectstart was in 1980. The main developer is the previous "EDB-senteret" (Computing Center of UiO, behaving like a commercial software house. FRIDA is furthermore under transition to

Cristin from 2011, mostly by providing an extra html/http interface. But still there is no proper search engine!! Besides, there are over 10 free software tools to instantly re-assemble the annual publication list of any researcher in whatever field on this planet.

So FRIDA/Cristin are not held in high esteem by Norwegian researchers, as its mission boils down to calculate the annual number of "publication points" for each researcher. One first-class journal article gives one point, and is credited with 20,000 NOK.

However, the "volatile" or production-driven part of a public university's research-budget cannot exceed 5 % in Norway. We easily end up in a "dead-man's game. : That is, wh ere all participant can document actors make substantial increase in publication points elsewhere will may east give yo willson improving your research budgetoe or etterorny more o dimproving y of the government's budget of such a given academic institution. Since the totalresearc roughly kept the same from year to year (96 % or 100 000 NOK per researcher), such publication re-counting results in almost nothing. And what about shared editorship between foreign colleagues! just a effect is close to nil. pere year (but the university http://www.ntnu.no/ub/frida.
