3.7 Concluding Remarks
Looking back at the main research question formulated in section 1.2.2,
a timely question is in what way the theoretical studies in chapter influence
the answer given to the question. The answer is that the theories influence
both the view on how enterprise modeling is performed and how it
should be performed. The is part of the question is influenced
in the sense that sensitivity to observations is changed -- the main empirical
study will be seen as a process of perspective taking and perspective making.
The should part of the question is influenced in the sense that
the theories predict problems that have to be overcome as a part of modeling.
The research questions are not discussed in more detail here, as the
main focus of this thesis is enterprise modeling practice, not enterprise
modeling theory. Still, the theories' influence on the research project
ought to be recognized (this is also discussed in section 10.4.2 when evaluating
the research process).
