Seven years ago NTNU declared medical technology as a strategic area of research. Today, 2nd of February 2009,the health informatics master programme see the light of day, as 21 students start their master study.
The dean of the Faculty of Medicine, professor Stig A. Slørdahl (in photo), welcomed the new health informatics students at the St. Olav campus. The students come from different backgrounds - 6 from IT and 15 from health care - and the programme aims to break down the barriers between the domains in order to develop better IT-systems.
The programme is a co-operation between the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering. From our department Øystein Nytrø, Pieter Toussaint, Hallvard Trætteberg, and Kirsti Berntsen are key figures in the master programme.
