Tuesday 11th of August the annual matriculation ceremony was held at Gløshaugen. In the plenum ceremony the Norwegian Minister of Research and Higher Education, Tora Aasland, and the NTNU Rector, Torbjørn Digernes, held encouraging speeches to the new students, telling them that knowledge is the key in challenging times.
Afterwards the students attended local cermonies where the matriculation certificates were awarded. Having received their certificates the Computer Science and Informatic students participated in the barbecue and computer game competitions outside F1 in the IT building.
There were computer game competitions in Guitar Hero and Mario Cart set up to entertain both new students and staff members. Free soda, and hot dogs were served at the lawn outside F1.
The winner of each computer game competition received a 1000.- NOK gift certificate. Those who came 2nd and 3rd received two cinema tickets each.
