Best Programmers in Norway

This weekend, the National part of the Nordic Collegiate Programming Contest (NCPC) 2010 took place at NTNU. The three best teams at NTNU were also the best in Norway.

Gold was won by the one-man-team Team Cacophony (Ruben Spaans). At silver place came the ohome build (Hans Christian Falkenberg, Truls Amundsen Bjørklund and Ingar Saltvik) team, and at bronze came team Brainfucked (Magnus Botnan, Geir Bogfjellmo and Geir-Arne Fuglstad). Brainfucked was the best ICPC qualified team in Norway.

The programming contest was held on Saturday 2nd of October 2010, with a record high number of participants at the NTNU campus. It is impressive to see so many students gather early on a Saturday for a 5 hour programming contest.

The NCPC event was coordinated between several Nordic universities. All the five Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) participated at the same time, making it a true Nordic event. NTNU had 79 teams at NCPC this year, 26 more than last year. NCPC is part of the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest.

Cisco, Microsoft and Software-Innovation sponsored the Norwegian part of the event. The best teams from the NWERC event will be qualified for the World Championship in programming.
