Professor Ingeborg Sølvberg and the working group she has directed, unanimously agree that a digital Institutional Repository will provide easier access to scientific work, as well as solving the preservation challenge.
It is important for NTNU to implement strategies which ensure easy access to scientific work, as well as preservation of knowledge for future generations. By using a digital Institutional Repository the scientific personnel will have one solution for both easy access to- and digital preservation of knowledge.
Currently scientific personnel often keep scientific work at personal web pages, which disappear when leaving the university. A digital Institutional Repository will ensure both availability and accessability of knowledge.
