Statoil has recently funded Associate Professor Anne C. Elster's Heterogeneous Framework for Flow Simulations project, which included funding for a PhD scholarship. The project is in close collaboration with Dr. Alf B. Rustad from Statoil Research.
The Heterogeneous Framework for Flow Simulations project focuses on the development of a framework and models for the heterogeneous computing platforms of the future. This work will be done in the context of large compute-intensive simulations with a special focus on flow simulations.
PhD candidate Ivar Ursin Nikolaisen has recently joined our department to work on this project. Anne C. Elster will be his supervisor, and Alf B. Rustad from Statoil will co-supervise the PhD work.
