On Tuesday last week, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) group had the Minister of Transport and Communications, Ketil Solvik-Olsen visiting their stand. They demoed the use of autonomous robots in intelligent transportation systems for the minister.
The researchers and master students have completed a week of demonstrations on stand with the Norwegian Public Road Administration. They have been showcasing various AI projects like platooning, intelligent traffic lights, and virtual reality driving of a lorry.
Platooning is grouping of vehicles as a method of increasing road capacity. Platooning was demoed by using the ChIRP autonomous robots to visualize how this can be achieved. Virtual reality lorry driving was done using the Octulus 3D headset.
Adjunct Associate Professor Anders Kofod-Petersen and master student Christian Skjetne managed the stand throughout the week. Skjetne showcased the AI solutions to Norwegian TV2, the Minister and other stand visitors.
If you have a TV2 Sumo account you can watch the God morgen Norge broadcast from Tuesday 7th of October to see the stand.
